Hi, we’re Givebutter!

The world’s first completely free end-to-end fundraising platform.

And this is our story

Our three co-founders met at college in Washington, D.C., hit it off, became friends, and then roommates.

We bonded quickly over a powerful idea:

"What can we do to make
the world a better place?"

We built all sorts of projects together.

from a viral charity sweepstakes to an event discovery app, we tried it all.

Max even (accidentally) became a club promoter for about 24 hours… but that’s a story for another time

Then, one day in 2016, we got a call that changed our lives forever.

Our friend Yudi was starting a nonprofit and needed to raise $13,000 to launch his food truck.

"Can you guys help?"

And we said,

"Of course!
Give us a month."

We started researching donation platforms, and we were repeatedly surprised by what we found...

“There’s no transparency on pricing! And all of these donations forms are so difficult to use…”

“Plus most supporters can’t even meaningfully engage with other, which is one of the most important reasons why people give.”

“There has to be a butter way...!”

“Wait… Did you say, “a butter way?"

So we created our own fundraising platform that’s free, transparent, modern, and that supporters actually enjoy using. We named it “Givebutter” because puns are fun and we believe giving should be fun too!

We launched, and something amazing happened:

Yudi beat his goal of $13K in one day.

Mascots are also fun—so we hit the drawing board and Mr. Butter was born!

This one incredibly successful campaign led to another, which led to another...

It was like magic!

All of a sudden people from all over the country were reaching (and surpassing!) their fundraising goals with Givebutter!

In less than a year, students from more than 300 schools and universities were using Givebutter to raise money for causes close to their hearts.

Just as we graduated from college, our first users did, too. Many of them began working and volunteering for nonprofits. Some even started their own nonprofits!

So we started creating more and more fundraising tools to empower changemakers to do it all.
